During WW1 my great grandmother Alice was married to Jack and they had a baby daughter Joan. Sadly Jack was posted to France to fight, he missed them terribly and wrote constantly sending many of these beautifully embroidered postcards declaring his love for them both.

Just before the end of the war, Jack was killed in action. My great grandmother was heartbroken, she eventually remarried but to later divorce as Jack was her true love. Ironically if Jack survived I wouldn’t be here, as my grandmother Peggy was from Alice’s 2nd marriage.

The postcards were handed down to me and I have treasured them ever since. A true example of real love.
